CROMWELL, July 23. There was a very heavy frost last night, but th"re arc indications of a change to-day, as it is mild and squally.
The nvei is now very low
The Junction Electric No. 2 diedge has Yen slopped all week lcpainag, but v. ill likely stjit to-moriow.
The Rise and Shine dredge stinted to-day. Local shareholders think the duct tors in this company should make some <-(atement whether they intend purchasing another dredge at once or waiting. The general opinion heie ia that they should -.vait for a while yet.
July 20.
It mined here nearly all la=t liiorlit, but, fortunately, it was snowing on the niriuitain tops. There was a hea\y fall of snov;, Imt the liver did not rise much. Lf fio=ts set m a^am now the river will keep down. Theie are indications of frost to-night.
The Alpine No. 2 dredge is having a run today, and, if -everything goes light, will be in full s'.ving on Monday. I believe the Kelly and Casey dredge is on fair gold.
The Alpine Consols dredge is on rich ground, and if the river keeps down is likely to do well for some time, but it is all the dredge can do now to bottom.
