To-ni£ht's Gssette contains a statement o: the receipts and expenditure of the Con solidated Fund for the quarter ended June 30. The receipts brought to the credit ol the ordinary revenue account total £1,622,018, which, including the balance at the be» ginning of the quarter (£358,625), is £131,798 lees than for the June quarter last year. Th? receipts from Cu«toms were £4-70,300 : stamps), £145,640; railways, £446,394. During the quarter the annual appropriations absorbed £939,927. Of this, £823,290 was for interest and sinking fund, and £32,615 for old-age pensions. The annual appropriations amounted to £682,091, the principal items being £25.193 for railways, £129,118 for education, and £50,000 foi defence.
