Waimara led Bellbird past the stand, but going into the country the latter took command, Waimara, Brass, and Inchcape following in the order named, with Venture last. Bellbird was still in front landing into the course again, but less than half a mile from home Inchcape and Brass joined him. After negotiating ths last fence Inchcape came away from Brass, and going on. won easily by four lengths, Bellbird a poor third and Venture last. Time, 3min 552 sec.
