THE WOOL SALES. LONDON, July 22.
At the wool sales yesterday there was only a moderate selection. Prices were firm. The Titi clip sold at^sid, and the Eglibton at lid. July 23.. At the wool auctions there was an animated sale at full rates. At the wool sales there was a brisk sale, but prices were unchanged. July 24. The Rangatira clip sold at 4^d, the Tinii at 3fd, and the Braemart at 9gd. July 25. At the wool sales yesterday prices were firm. There were some withdrawals owing to the high reserves. Americans are operating in crossbreds. The Oreti clip sold at sld; Ohoka, 10-{d. In the Bradford market tops are more active. Common sixties, 22d ; super, 23{,d. Wool is steady at late rate*. July 27. The wool sales closed exceedingly firm. Merinos and fine crossbreds were 5 per cent, above May prices, and low crossbreds 5 per cent, above opening rates. The quantity catalogued m 217,500 bales; sold— Home, 102,500 bales ; Continent, 77,000 blaes ; America, 8000 bales; held over, 40,000 bales. The Castle Hock clip realised 4£d, the Edendale s£d, the Robinson Gjd, and the Richmond Sid.
Messrs Dalgety and Co. (Limited) report having received the following cable from their head office, dated London, July 26: — " Wool bales closed without further change. As compared with closing rates of last series, greasy merinos and fine crossbred^, all good wqql&j Are & per cent, higher i scoured
merinos and fine cross br^ds, 2^ to 5 per cent, higher ; other descriptions at par to 2£ per cent, higher. Greasy medium and coarse crossbreds. lower by 5 to ID per cent. .Out of the net quantity of wool available for ?ale some 113,000 bales have been sold for Home consumption, 67,000 bales for the Continent, £000 ba'es for America, leaving 33.000 bales to be carried forward to the next series, of which 26,500 were not offered at these sales."
The Isew Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) have received the following cable from their London office:— "Wool: The sal & o closed firmly this day. Since the close of last sales scoured merino super, and greasy merino lambs' super, are £d to Id per 1b higher; fin© greasy crossbred and fine scoured crossbred are id per lb higher; greasy merino super., grrasy merino medium and inferior, scoured nierino, medium and inferior, and greasy merino lambs, medium and inferior, are par to id per lb higher. Since the cose of last sa'es medium greasy "rossbred, coarse greasy crossbred and greasy crossbred lambs are id per lb lower; medium scoured crossbred and coarse rcoured crossbred are to Id per lb lower."
