Coronation Memorial. — We are likely to havp an sithenseum hfro before long-. At a publ.c meeting a resolation was passed asking the Borough Council to vote £200 111 order to secure a subsidy of like amount from the Government to erect a building as a lastir.g memorial of th ■ coronation of King Edward The council, at a special meeting, resolved to accede to the v/iehes of the people by erecting a brick building on a suitable site reserved foi the purpof™, and agreed to carry on the concern as a publ'c institution. The Atheiueum Committee then promised to hand over all moreys in their possession, (amounting to close on £100} and the
books in the library as soon as the building is completed.
Church Social. — The annual social gathering of the Presbyterian Church takes place on Wednesday next. The attendance is usxially veiy large. A number of clergymen from other districts will be present and will deliver addresses, vhile selections will be rendered by the choir.
Welcome Home. — One of the last troopers who left here with the Seventh Contingent has just returned, and will be tendered a social and piesentatioT similar ts that given to the other leturncd tioopers belonging to this place.
Indoor Amusements. — Ping-pong has taken on here as m other places. A tournament took place the other night, the east side of the nver playing against the west side, an-d resxilted in a win for the formeT. The teams consisted of '20 flayers a '•ide. Refreshments wero provided by the ladies, ard dancing was afterwards indulged ip. Another tournament will take plate a month hence
