THE WOOL SALES.
LONDON. July 13. At the wool bales the Oreti clip realised s^d. At the wool 6ales there was keen competition at tor> prices'. July 16. Merinos and fine crossbreds are 5 per cent, above opening rates ; medium low sorts are weak. The Blackhead clip realised 4£d and the Elderslie 20Ad. Sales are firm and prices unchanged. Borne merinos have been withdrawn. July 18. There is a good inquiry for merinos at the sales; they continue brisk and unchanged. Low crossbreds are firm. The Tarndale clip realised 9gd. At the wool sales to-day bidding was spirited, and. all kinds offered were firci Bt late rates. Ju]y 20. At yesterday's wool sale there was a moderate selection, but a splendid sale, marked by good competition in all classes. Prices are unchanged. The 'Agolopa clip realised 4|d, the Gear s|d, the Ben Ohau 9£d, the Hall ll{d." Up to date 134,668 bales have been catalogued and 122,022 sold. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) have received the following cable from their London office : — " Wool : Tho sales progress firmly. For merino, jince the opening of the f-ale«, there has been an average- advance of about 5 per cent, on last sales' closing rates. Market 'irregular for medium crossbred and coarsecrossbred, for which, since the opening of the Bales, there has been an average decline, of about 7^ per cent, on last sales' closing rates." 33» National, Mortgage, and Agency Comptmf rqptMTt fcitviM {eeuyed the follow mi;
cable from their London office, dated London, 16th July: — " Coarse crossbred*, all grades, advance March, May, lost ; present supplies exceed requirements ; prospects are uncertain."
Messrs Dalgety and Co. (Limited) report having received the following 1 cable from their head office, dated London, 17th inst. : "Prices for merino sheepskins are unchanged ; fine crossbred skins at par to id lower ; medium and coarse crossbred sheepskins lower by id to jd per lb."
