MELBOURNE, July 10. _ The Senate got into a tangle over the proposed bonuses on products of the iron industry. By 11 to 12 Senators negatived the proposal to strike out the clause that proviso duties should come into - operation on the dates fixed byproclamation after the industries had been established, plate and sheet galvanised iron being exenfpted. • Then by 11 to 10 they placed galvanised iron on the free list. Reapers and binders and other machinery covered by the introductory proviso and wire netting were also placed on the free list. Iron pipes were passed with a duty of 10 per cent. July 11. The Senate negatived the proposal to re-impo.se the duty on kerosene. Solar residual oils were placed on the free list.
