The following cable has been received from the Agent-general: — "London, 3L>t. Mutton market quiet; trade for all da*se« has been very slow, and prices barely main tamed. Canterbury, 4£d ; Dunedin, Southland, and W.M.E. Company's, 4d ; other North Island, 3ld- The lamb market is dull. Competition amongst holdeis, to clear stocks, has lowered the values: Canterbury, 4|d ; other brand?, 4£d. The- beef market is weak. New # Zealand hinds, 4|d ; fores, 4d. There is no alteration in the butter market, but chceee is falling, and is now quoted at 58s. The hemp market is dxill ; good, fair Wellington, £35 ; June-August shipments, £29. Cocksfoot is quiot ; New Zealand 171b standard, 485."
