GOODWOOD.
May 29. — A very successful social was held in the Goodwood School on Fuday evening, 23rel inst., ab a velcome home lo Lance-corporal M'Larcn, who, as a member or the Sixth Continent, did his share in upholding the cause of justice and freedom in South Africa. There was a large attendance, the building being filled. Mr I. Stenhou.se, 111 a few well-chosen remarks, extended to Lance-corporal McLaren a very cordial welcome home on behalf of the people of Goodwood. Abundance of refreshments were piovided by tlrs ladies of the district. Dancing was heartily indulged iv to lmtsic supplied by. Messrs Stenhouse, Sutherland, Robertson and Chisholm, Mr Sutherland acting as M.C. Vocal items were rendered duiing the evening by Misses M'Laren and 1 Mess>r3 Stenhouse, Inues, Byown, Gedd-es, and Robertson. Thanks having been returned on behalf of Lance-corporal M'Laren for the hearty welcome home accorded him, the singing Jt "AuM la:ig syne" bionght to a close oi,o of the mo:t successful and enjoyable socials ever held m Gcodwood.
