LONDON, May 26. j Nine cases of plague are reported at Majunga (Madagascar). SYDNEY, June 1. Dr Valentine, who has been studying plague, is among the passengers by the Westralia for New Zealand. Yesterday was the fifth day without a plague case occurring. Eleven .more patients have been discliarged cured. One plague case was reported to-day. BRISBANE, May 27. One ca«e of plague was reported yesterday. Several plague patients have been discharged cured. Compared with the previous outbreak there were 38 cases and 11 deaths last year against 7S cases and 23 deaths this year. FREMANTLE, May 27. A inaii named Funch has died from plague. THE CHRISTCHURCH PATIENTS. CHRISTCHTJRCH, May 27. Shields, the plague patient, is practically well now. He is of opinion that ho caught the plagne in a vessel from Newcastle. Dr Stewart, who had been in attendance on the man, on being interviewed, -said that the case was a good typical case of plague, with all the symptoms and developments. At one time the position of the patient was certainly critical. He had the advantage of being especially well attended to, as he had a doctor and two nurses to attend on him, and capital nurses the two ladies proved themselves, unremitting in their attention, cheerful, and fearless. Shields made a capital pjtietit. May 29. Shields, the plague patient, is not so well to-day a3 he has been for a week or so, though it is not thought there is any danger of a relapse. The boy Rogers is doing very well.
