OTAGO RUGBY UNION,

The weekly meeting of the O-.R.P.U. Committee was held on Monday. There were present Messrs Hutchison (president), Campbell, Duncan, Harris, Munro, Priest, Ross, M'Laren, and Wilkinson.

It was decided to give the net gate of the recent charity tournament to the Library Committee of the School of Mines.

Permission was granted to tlie Pirates Club t-o send a team to Balclutha- to-day, Mr J. Burr to be manager.

The referee in the match Pirates Third v. Dunedin Third reported that he had considerable difficulty in distinguishing the players owing to the similarity of their jerseys-. — It was decided to draw the atten^ tion of the Dunedin aad Pirates Clubs to the matter.

Zingari-Richmond Second^ repotted that he had ordered off the field • Watt, o£ the- latter team, for misconduct. — Ifc was decided to hold an. inquiry into the matter at next meeting. The Secretary of the Caledonian Society wrote, under date May 31, that it was the intention of the society to use the Caledonian ground on June 3.— The secretary was instructed to inform the society that under the terms of the lease ifc is necessary for them to give the Rugby Union at least 10 days' notice of their intention to take the ground, but that in the present case the union are prepared to waive their right. It was decided that in the match KaiUorai ! and Alhambra v. Combined Clubs, the Kai- j korai and Alhambra members should play in their club colours, and the members of the combined teams in blue or black.

The committee recorded its gratification at the successful termination of the war in South Africa, and its satisfaction at the prominent part taken in it by the various New Zealand contingents, whose membership included a very large number of Rugby footballers. Messrs Harris and Ross were appointed a sub-committee to interview the. Retailers' Association re fche framing of rules for controlling the Wednesday games.
