OAMARU, May 26.

At St. Paul's (Presbyterian), Wesleyan, Baptist, and Church of Chri c t Churches yesterday resolutions protesting against the granting of a license to sell liquors at Pipiriki, on the Wanganui River, against the clearly-expressed wishes of the Maoris of that district, were carried unanimously. In each church the congregation rose by way of protest. '

INVERCARGILL, May 26.

The Invercargill Ministers' Association this afternoon decided to protest against granting- a license to a house -at the Pipiriki Native settlement, Wanganui. The United Temperance Reform Council passed a similar resolution to-night, also protesting against legislation that would give the Government power to authorise the^ sale of liquor in any locality wliatever.
