WETHERSTONES.

May 12. — The farmers have been taking ad- ' vantage of the fine weather we have had lately. I believe all the grain crops_ in this district are in. From the Taieri Plain to this side of Waitahiuia- one can see from the train the different sort of work going on on the different farms. On one farm they were thatching the stacks, as though the owner intended to let it stand for the winter. On another the threshing mill was at work, and on several others they were busy ploughing or carting out manure, and appeared to be giving the giound a liberal supply. There will b& a break for tho worse in the weather before long, the barometer being low — 25.66 yesterday morning, and it has only risen one-tenth since. The mornings have been generally frosty, both in Dunedin and here. There wens a few cold showers, last night, the first during, €he past ■ fortnight. The rainfall for April was 2.Bin.
