The statutory meeting of the Voltaic< Dredging Company was held immediately at the close of tho foregoing, Mr E. C. Reynolds again presiding. It was decided that the, number of directors be five, and their remuneration was fixed at £63. The gentlemen elected as directors were Messrs E. C. Reynolds, R. Lee, W. G. Somervilie, A. J. Shaw, and T. Steel. The matter of electing an auJitor could not, be pioceeded with, it being pointed out by the Chairman that, according to the articles of association, this must be done in the first instance by the directors, and at subsequent annual meetings by tho ahaieholder6. It was resolved that tho books close on the 31st December next, and that the general meeting take place in February following. The Chairman said that last month he had made it his business to go to Cromwell, and had a look at the claim and dredge. A number of applications were received foi the position of dredgemaster, and the directors finally decided to accept the services of Mr W. P. Stevens, a young man with very good credentials, and a thoroughly competent dredee master. They had received a letter from Mr Werner stating that the uiedgp would start working on Monday (the prf-sent day), and it was probable that she would be on payable gold. They were dredging inside the Second Magnetics pegs. They had never prospected that portion of the giound, but they thought that it would bp a pity to take the dredge to where they had prospected, as part of the machinery would have to be taken off ir order to pull her up there They therefore deeded to go to work where she was at once The dredge was in very fair order indeed, from what he saw of hor, and this -was confirmed by Mr St'-vens's report. This closed the meeting
