GAMES.

The following games were played in the London championship tourney of 1897, between Messrs W. H. Parmenter and C. H. Wheeler. Score and notes appeared in the Sc»'.tish Draughts Quarterly. Game 6241 — "Double Corner."

(a) Rather a peculiar move, but seemingly sound enough when properly followed up. (b) This appears weak, if not an absolute loss; 4 S would run it into a favourite line in match play as follows. —

(c) We think White missed a win here. We give a diagram and a continuation in support of our opinion. —

(a) The characteiistic move of the Xuilor, which is decidedly a. weak opening ior the second player. (b) 1 S is the usual continuation, and is best. (c) 6 9, 17 13, 2 6. running into a Souter formation is strongei than the t^xt line.
