MR T. MACKENZIE IT NASEBY.
Mr Thomas Mackenzie addressed his ooafetituents at Naseby on. Saturday night. The Jiall was crowded, and the member received it, cordial welcome. The Mayor (Mr Inder) occupied the chair, and in introducing the member said that klthough.' he was an opponent of Mr Mac[jeenzie'a at last election he would be a jbupporter at the next, should Mr Mackenzie contest that seat. . He considered they were ,very fortunate in having as their member fco able and influential a gentleman. — (Applause.) j ', Sir Mackenzie spoke for an tour and , »-qnarter, and dealt very fully with the J legislation, introduced and passed during the j Jpwrtr two sessions, and also indicated, the i questions which he. considered, must soon I occupy the attention, of Parliament. The j tocal bodies' loans was a. matter which [ Parliament sbqttild be forced to ( dea>l with- j [t was one o£ the most urgent questions of the time, aa the rates of interest now were far beyond what would be paid were the loans dealt with in the manner they ought to be. The neglect to make j proper provision for receiving consumptives • pra& declared by Mr Mackenzie to be • criminal, and the Government must face the Question. He* also referred to the- farce of t the 10 pages of the Public Health Act : piakiag provision -for efficient vaccination, j to a Jiewvy penalty, -when they had j p. maudlin dairae permitting those who had j Conscientious objections to escape.
