DUNBACK.
April 26. — A sacred concert was given by the Palmerston Presbyterian Church choir in th<». Dunback Church on Thursday, 24th inst., j>i Aid of the funds of the Dunback Presbyterian Church. Although the evening- was fine, the attendance, considering the worthy object, wa not very satisfactory. The chuir was occrpied by the Rev. Mr Clarke, of Palmerstor.. moderator of this parish. The proceedings opened with a prayer by the Chairman, after which the choir and audience joined in singing the one hundredth Psalm. The following were the items rendered • — Organ selection. Miss Service , anthem, " Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem " , solo, " Thp Toi'ers," Mr T. Stonhouse; solo, '" Too late," Miss Cummins : anthem, "How beautiful upon thp mountains"; solo, " Rocked in the cradle of the deep," Mr, R. Fleming , duet and quartr-t. " Though youi sins be as scarlet," Misses M'Laren and dimming, Messrs Fleming and w alkev; a o'o, " Asleep in the deep," Mr D. Young . " The heavenly song. Miss Sinclair; on>an selection, Mis 3 Service ; hymn, " Tell it out amorg the heathen"; solo, "The land of the 'eal. ' Miss M'Laren (encored) ; solo, " The !a-;t :mi=ter," Mr T. Stenhouse; anthem, "My vo'.ro shalt thou hear in the morning " ; solo, " Out in the deep," Mr R. Fleming; solo, "The- harboiu bell," Mt D. talker; anthem, "I h> v> sat watchmen " ; solo, '" Calm bevoi: r l, ' Rev. Mr Clarke. Mr Blunde l ], on behalf of the Church Committee ai a congregation, proposed a hearty vote o£ thanks to the choir for coming so far and providing such an excellent entertainment, which was duly accorded, after which ho pronouncec* the benediction. Miss Service, organist of thiPalmerston Presbyterian Church, officiated a~ the organ during the evening, the organ beiiif kindly lent by Mrs D. Murray, jun. All th^ items were well received by the sudience. Political. — It is very probable that on • worthy parliamentary representative (Mr 'i . Mackenzie), will deliver his pre-sessional at - dresa in the schoolhouse oa Friday, May 9. I. is rumoured that Mr Arkle. of Palmerston, wil be a candidate for this seat at next election.
