DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE.

The Dunedin Stock Exchange had a uniqus experience on Monday morning, not a single sale being effected. Evidently sellers were satisfied to hold for better prices, while buyers were reluctant to go up. In the afternoon, however, business was better, and a fair number of transactions took place at about late rates. The returns for last week must be considered very satisfactory, the aggregate being a good deal higher than for the week previous, 'lhe Nelson Creek return .shows a considerable falling off, but that was only to be expected, as in order to work the claim systematically the I dredge had to cut out a portion of the flat on which there is a lot of terrace formation, which has always given trouble. Under the circumstances 1-lloz is very satisfactory. Tho ! Pactolus return was, to some, disappointing, but to the* majority it must seem very fair, I and that from the No Town Creek (the second best gqt by that dredge so far) is also good. It is pleasing to note the marked improvement fn the Red Jacks return This claim is highly thought of, and judging from the large amount > of- gold that has been won from the surround- , ings there is little doubt that the ground is , fairly -rich, although it is said the surface timber causes a considerable amount of trouble, j The Upper Magnetic return caused a considerable demand for that stock, and a good number of shares changed hands at Bs. Rise and Shines and Meg and Annies were also in good demand, the former at increased prices, and a fair number of shares were taken up. The Golden Run dredge has also coma to the front with a good return, and there is little doubt that a. number of other dredges in the same locality will follow suit when the river falls to a good dredgeable level.
