The aniount of business done on the Dunedin Stock Exchange on Monday was not quite so good in proportion as on Saturday, but still a very fair number of transactions were recoided. The excellent return of 3050z from the Nelson Creek dredge had the effect of causing West Coast stocks to harden slightly, although there wis not much improvement m prices. This, however, could scarcely be expected, as a gfnera! improvement took place last week in anticipation of such a return, and there is not likely to be any material change unless there is a* probability of another very large return at the end of this week. The Otago stocks held their own, and U' some cases a slight advance was noticeable. The mer has fallen appreciably since Saturday, the height at Alexandra yesterday morning being 6ft above the normal [ mark, while the weather was fine. Callaghaii's Creeks hardened" somewhat, but Dunj stan Leads were a little easier as compared ! with Saturday's quotations. Enterprises firmed ! a little, and a sale was made at 295, the closing quotations being 28s 6d and 30s 6d Excelsiors receded a little, but First Chances were stationary, as also wore Gold Kings, while Golden Beds improved a shade. A sale of Goldei. Rivers was made at 7s 3d, and two more at 7s 6d, after which buyers offered 7s 6d, sellers wanting Id more Grey River Consolidateds hardened, arid Junction Electrics lecovered ; Friday's position. Nelson Creeks improved a little in the morning, but fell back again in the afternoon. Two sales took place at 71s, and two more at 70s, and there were still buyers at 695, with sellers at 73s 6d. A sale of N-Q Town Creeks was made at 22s 6d, at which price further inquiries were made, sellers closing at 22s 9d. Olriga were firmer. Trafalgars hardened in the morning, but buyers dropped back in the afternoon, though sellers were firm. Upper Magnetics also improved, though there was a tendency to ease in the afternoon. A sale was made at 7s 9d, and two followed at 7s 6d, this figure being asked by further sellers, but buyers drew the line at 7s 3d.
