The duectors of the Union Jack Gold Dredging Company will submit the fo'lowiEg report at the annual meeting of phaieholdeTS — " The chiectors, 111 submitting their annual ie-port and balance sheet for tho year ending .January 31, 1902, have to state that the prospecting dredge was not completed till September, lyui, which was considerably after contiact time. Mr Tcmpleton, on being appointed master, immediately started dredging on the lower part of the Liones.s claim, where, from previouo experience in that locality, he expected to get payable gold. Owing to the extremely unsatisfactory state of the river dredging was \eiy intermittent, and the iesulta very poor. On the 30th October it was decided to close down and dismiss the crew until the river went down sufficiently to permit of reliable prospecting. A start was again made a foitnight a^o, but the returns show no improvement. Shareholders arc ieferrcd to the balance sheet for particulars as to tho financial position of tli-> company. Two of your dnectors (Messrs Mathewsou and Donaldson) retire by rotation, luit. hemp; chgib'e, offer tLoinseKci for reelection. The auditor (Mr Blvtii) aUo retires and offers himself lor re-election.'
