Keppie. — The opening balloted between this pair was 9 14, 22 18, M'Kelvie winning from first position. The ending was: Black men on 3, 4, 11, king on 12 , White men on 20, 32, kings on 6, 10; White (M'Kelvie) to pipy : —32 C, 12 8, 27 23, 8 12, 23 18, 12 16, IS 15, 11 18, 20 11, 18 23, 10 7. 3 10, 6 15. 23 27, 15 19, 27 32, 11 7-lTKelvie won. In the third gamo between this pair the 12 16, 22 18 opening, M'Kelvie gained his third j,oint as follows : — Position — Black men on 5, 12, 16, 19, 20; "White men on 121, 29, 30, 32, king on 11 ; White (M'Kelvie) to play : —21 17, 19 23, 17 14, 16 19, 11 16, 20 24, 32 28, 24 27, 30 26, 23 30, 16 32— M'Kelvie won. Their fourth game being drawn, M'Kelvie entered the second round.
M. Scott v. J. Ferried— 12 16, 21 17 was balloted for. Some critical play arose, but as jicither seemed 'to' have a winning advantage, a draw was agreed to. Bonar v. Buchanan. — Great interest was manifested: oy the spectators at the table where this tie was in progress. It) 14, 23 19 being the move balloted. After a, well-contested «amc a draw resulted. 3O£jMan v. A. B. Scott.— Their first game Trom'iae 9, 14, 22 18 was conducted on brok lines till near the finish, Scott scoring somewhat easily. Scobie v. Campbell.— 9 13, 23 18 was the first game between these players. A very evenkcontested game ended in a draw. Crookston v. Corbett.— A keen contest was witnessed between these phiyer-j. two draws resulting, Crookaton missing a win in tho second game. (a) Mr Crookston afterwards pointed out thai he missed the following neat win . — 19 15, 11 8, 22 15, 14 18, 25 22, 18 25, 30 21, 2 7, 26 23, 7 11, 22 18— White wins.
When play was lesumed in the shearing there was a good turnout of spectators. ?Ferrie was the first finished, with a game *hich he won off M. Scott.
Buchanan v. Bonar.— The following interesting ending occurred between this pair from 11 15, 24 20, an "Ayrshire Lassie" game being formed —Position — Black men in 4, 3, 7, 8. 11, 12, 18; White men on 19. 20. 24. 25, 27, 29! 32 .
