DEATH OF SERGEANT W. MOORE.
Mr W. J. Moore, head master of the Kensington School, received a wire on Saturday night from the Right Hon. the Premier informing him of the death of his son in South Africa. The sad message was couched in the following words: — " W. J. Moore, Esq. It La with deep regret that I have to inform you that your son. Sergeant W. Moore, died this morning at 3. My heartfelt sympathy is with you, and there is the consolation of knowing that the separation is only temporary, and that your ton died doing his duty in defending the Empire. You have also the consolation of knowing that the message which you sent through me conveying your joint love was delivered to him before he passed away. — R. J. Seddon." The late Sergeant Moore was 27 years of* age. Prior to joining the sixth contingent lig had served as an officer of the Union Bank for over seveu years in Dunedin. Invercargfll, Christehiirch, and Rangiora. He was a member of the B Battery her 6at one time, and was a popular member of various cricket and football clubs *n the towns above nrmed.
