WELLINGTON, January 29.

Speaking at. the Liberal gathering this evening, the Premier declared that it was obvious someone had blundered in regard to the acceptance of the Argentine meat contracts, and he 'had only acted rightly in drawing pointed attention to it. If the press cables were accurate, tenders had been called under certain conditions, acid totally opposite condition's had been accepted. He went on to say the Government wer© prepared to give the people of the Mother Country and British manufacturers a preferential tariff. They were also prepared to give a rebate on Britishmanufactured goods carried in British ships.
