SUGAR BEET INDUSTRY
There is likely to be a revival of the sugar beet industry in Victoria. Experiments have already been set on foot for the purpose of demonstrating: the saccharine qualities of the beet produced at Maffra, and the production per acre. After the results have been properly ascertained, it is intended to take some action Mnu*sp bringing (h« idle factory at Mgggg£=
which eo3t £60,000, and takes £1000 to keep in order for a year — into use again. The drawback to the beet-sugar industry in Victoria so far has been that an unfortunate selection was made in the first place of the spot for the factory.
