THE AUCKLAND REGATTA.

AUCKLAND, January 29. To-day was observed as a close holiday, being Anniversary Da)'. The principal attractions were the regatta and the Takapuna races. The legatta was a great success, and was largely attended. The Taviuni was the flagship. There was a fine breeze for sailing events, but the sea was too lumpy for rowing races, which had to be postponed. The Open Yacht Hace was won by the Moana, with the Ida second and the Thetis^, third. The Speedwell won the 25ft liner Tace, the Miro coming second. The Devonport Navala won the Naval Cutter Race Two crewa from H.M.S. Ringarooma and one from H.M.S. Lizard competed in the Man-o'-war Race, the Lizard's crew winning.

The oyster season opened gn Saturday, and, as the weather was fine, the cutters returned to the Bluff early from the dredging ground with full cargoes.
