BACRE.
Decernbai' 13.— During the past months our district lias had its share of the bad -weather experienced in Southland, and the grass and grain crops have suffered accordingly. The cold winds nipped theii early growth and a late harvest is anticipated unless the intervening months are warm and moist.
Seasonable.— People are busily engaged in preparing for the coining festive season, and a feeling of glad anticipation pervades the air ; We can honestly say we have no " Mr Scrooge " amongst us to look askance at these things, and young and old alike enjoy tne season of " peace and goodwill." School Excursion. — The annual school excursion takes place on the 27xh December, when w.?. hope to see the little ones have a really enioyable time. Railway Accident.— The stocking railway accident at Morton Mains has caused" qnite a sensation among the people oE ths district many of whom were personally acquainted with the unfortunate young men. ' Much sympathy is (expressed for th«ir relatives and fi lends in the sudder and unexpected sorrow.
