GH WHERE IS THE LAND OF DREAMS?
Oh, where ia the land of the spirit sleep ? From whence are ihe thoughts that roam Like shadow ships on a phantom deep, Sail-set for a mystic home ! When the stars are out, and the lamps are lit, They come in a wakeful train ; Through the rustling boughs of the pines they flit Whan thr south-lights wax and wane. iWith the winsome touch of a fairy bell, They come to the anxious .throng .That wakes wh-a' the grey dawn breaks the spell Of the night bird's cradle song. In the done, lone north, where the sailor steers For a- port in the silent gloom' Jflieir voice is heard; and the watcher hears Ir the west, where the orchids bloom. .When the white gull calls to the -echoing waves, And the eyelids close, it seems They come like a voice from Arcadian caves-— &h, wheze ie the laud of Dreams? •-Jogx Maclennih.
