THE AMERICA CUP

NEW YORK, September 13. Sir Thomas Lipton's yacht Shamrock 11, the America Cup challenger, weathered a sudden squall, blowing at the rate of 50 miles per hour.

The following extraordinary verdict was returned by a jury at Mauriceville who inquired into the death of a child found rlead in bed:— "That the child was born suddenly and by surprise; and that it died by smothering— but not from any violence or Injury reoeived."
