Iti» raining heavily locally. The river is about <Sft 6in above 'normal mark. The Bendigo dredge started work in earnest after midnight on Sunday night. The First Chanc* dredge is shifting farther down the- river. September 16. The Junction Electric dredges were both troubled with the drift last week. The Alpine Consols return was hardly as good as was expected, but broken time interfered a lot with it. The Pioyal Maori is to have a tiial run this week. The Galvanic is supposed to start work today; at least, a crew has gone up. If this dredge gets a bit higher up her claim I think returns will follow.
