John Skene and Son leport under date, July 23, as follows.—Spring will soon be on us now, and we anticipate a big rush for ploughmen, farm hands, and milkers. Mixed orders for different classes of workers are fairly plentiful. Farm and station couples are in good demand. Smart boys can be placed any time. Wages rule as follows:—Ploughmen, 20s, 21s; contract rabbiters, 2d per skin ; farm couples, £70; station couples, £75; hotel porters, boots, bil-liard-markers, etc., from 15s to 255; fencers', 23 s; grooms and gardeners, 20s to 235; lads, nii'kers, 12s 6d to 15s; gardeners (daily), 7s; carters, 7s; waggon drivers (stations), 255; liousekecpers, 15s.
