OTAGO LAM) BOARD.

The usual weekly meeting of the Land Board held on Wednesday was attended by Mr D. Barron (Chief Commissioned and Messrs Duncan, Kirkpatrick, and Dallas. James Little applied for exemption from residence upon section la, Bainego settlement. Referred to ranger for report. Assistant-Ranger O'Neill reported on the imsold sections in the Town of Kapiti — viz., sections 14 to 18, block I; 1, block IV; 7 to 14, block IV ; 1 and 2, 6to 18, block Vll.— Sections to be again offered at aiiction at the upet of £2 10s per quarter-acre, as suburban land. A letter was received from the Vincent County Council in regard to the application to have sections 38, 39, and 48, block XI, Town of Clyde, vested in the council. — Under the circumstances referred to, the board endorse the action of the County Council that they (the board) intend to offer these sections for lease under the Public Reserves Act, for a period of 14 years. Assistant-Ranger O'Neill reported on section 21, block X, Woodland district, formerly held by Mrs M. Anderton. — Report approved, and land to be again offered at 5s per acre, valuation £80. The board authorised the Receiver of Land Revenue to pay the sum of £24 10s, lodged as valuation for improvements on sections 1, 2, 8, 9, 19, and 26, block 111, Tautuku district, to revenue, on account of clearing ; expenditure to be debited to this section. A letter from G. W. Carveth in regard to a road to section 63, block VI, Glenomaru district, was referred to the Clutha County Council. Assistant-Ranger O'Neill forwarded a report on sections 10, 24, and 26, block XIV, Tuapeka West district, part of Darton village settlement. Government to be recommended to have these sections re-classified and offered on lease in perpetuity. Mrs Isabella Charles applied for exemption from residence on her small grazing Run No. 412, sections 2, 3, and 4, block VIII, Blaekstone district.— Exemption granted during the pleasure of the board.

Henry Birley renewed his request to he allowed to remove from the recreation reserve adjoining block XIII, Town of Glenorchy, the fencing erected tkereon by F. H. Daniel. — Allowed the right to remove fence. A memo, was received from the Under-Sec-retary of Lands in regard to an application made by John Saunders for section 77, block I, Moeraki district. — Temporary license granted to Saunders for grazing purposes only, at Is per acre per annum rental. Ranger Hughau reported on the application by William Fraser to transfer section Ba, Barnego estate, to Charles Shand, which was approved. Assistant-Ranger O'Neill reported on the application by James Cunningham to have the road on the boundary of his sma.ll grazing Run 262q, Teviot district, surveyed. — Decided that no action be taken in the meantime. An application to purchase land held on perpetual lease — John M'Neill, jun., section 55, block I, Catlins di&trict— was approved. An application for rural land on occupation with right of purchase — Joseph Bailey, section 15, block VI, Woodland district— was agreed to. Applications for rurs>l land under the Land for Settlements Act were agreed to as follow. — Robert Lawrence, section 51, block X, Pomahaka Downs Estate; James Burke, section C, block XIV, Pomahaka Downs estate. Applications to transfer were dealt with as follow : Aaron Dyke to Joseph Henry Roberts, section 48, block I, Rock and Pillar district, approved ; Michael M'Grath to M. J. Gallagher, section 101, block IX, Maruwenua district, and Michael M'Grath to M. J. Gallagher, section 102, block IX, Maruwenua district, consideration deferred until next meeting; mis. license (sawmilling), W. T. M'Farlane to Thos. Turnbull M'Allister, 30 acres in block XIX, Crookston district, approved. The Inspector of Stock, Kurow, forwarded the following applications for licenses to occupy the Kurow Creek river bed:— George Coker, fronting sections 6 and 7, block VIII, Kuto.v district; and William Hastings, fronting sections 1, 2, and 3, block VIIL Kurow district. — Ranger to report in connection with all the streams in this locality. A similar decision was adhered to with referer.ee to letters fiom C. A. Hille, Mrs D. Hille, and Andrew O'Brien applying for portion of the river bed ; and from C. Shine and Mulvenna m regard to the same matter.

The board authorised the Receiver of Land Revenue to pay over the sum of £55 8s paid as valuation for improvements on section 102, block 11, Maerewhenua estate, to R. Johnstone, less 30s, cost of re-entry.

At a meeting of the committee of the Glut ha Mounted Rifles, held on Saturday afternoon, it was decided to accept the tender of Mr George Lawrence (Dunedin) for the erection of the Harvey Memorial Orderly Room. The price, it is understood, is £265, and the work of erection will be put in hand almost immediately. — Free Press.

Several consumptives from different parts of the colony are testing the climate of Kimbolton (near Feilding) for the benefit of their health. At a meeting of the Hospital Board (reports the Rangitikei Advocated it was stated by Mr J. G. Wilson that two ladies were residing in tents at Kimbolton, with a view to giving the open air cure for consumption a trial.

The attention of poultry fanciers and owners of sheep dogs is directed to the Biuce Poultry and Dog Trials Society's advertisement in another column. A large number of special and other prizes will be given for poultry, ard J225 in cash will be given to prize-winners in the dog trials.
