Notes from Westport. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WESTPORT, July 19.

Rain has set in, but the rivers are low. and the ieturn& this week from dredging should be large. The Mokoia is putting in good time. The Consolidated dredge is nearly ready to start, and should be on good gold two weeks after staitmg. The Island Creek dredge had a good week, and is now lovds from the terrace. The wash is improving every shift, and would pay handsomely with a good spread of tables and a longer ladder. The Wareatea machinery is going up quickly. > The screen, boiler, tank, and other parts have been placed. The winch and engine aie partly finished, and the dredge should be working m six weeks. The Buller Junction dredge is working steadily, and A better return is expected this week. The wash is improving. The contractor for the erection of the Premier machinery is making good headway, and expects to finish in five weeks. The Britannia Quartz Company is on good stone, and will have another good return this month. The boring operations on the Nile Rivm, Chirleston, were uiisuccp-js'vil. The boie did not bottom after three attempts. The Fairdown contractor ;s pushing ahead. The kauri planking has arrived, and he expects the pontoons to be finished m six weeks. A quantity of machinery tor the Welcome Company is lying on the wharf waiting transpoit to the claim. The pontoons have been launched for some time. The El Dorado contractor has not yet started the pontoons. The timber will amve fchoitly.
