SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

The ordinary meeting of the Otago School Commissioners, held on th° 16th inst., was attended by Messrs A. Baldey (chairman), W. Dallas, T. Mac Gibbon, and D. Borrie. The Under-secretary of Mines wrote that the Minister of Mines declined the commissioners' claim of £212 14-s as compensation in connection with proclaiming the Waimumu Stream, a sludge channel. — Received. The application of the Otago Education Board for a school site of 4 acres 3 roods, Hawksbury district, was granted. The Commissioner of Crown Lands, Invercargill, wrote asking if the commissioners were willing to take either section 11 or section 18, block XVIII, Limehills township, in exchange for ftttion 8, block IV, instead of section 2, block XVIII, as originally proposed. — Exchange agreed to. A number of transfers of lease were agreed to. Accounts amounting to £38 12s lOd were passed for payment.
