I — Fiance has the most expensive Pailiament. It copts £300,000 a year. — The following circumstances are somewhat remarkable : Caroline Amelia Irons and Sarah Augusta Shrapnell, of Sutton Courtney, Berks, twins, aged 75, died oa successive days, and were buried side by side. Their father, Lieutenant James Shrapnell, who served under Nelson on the Victory, was a nephew of Lieutenant-general Henry Shrapnell, the inventor of the caseshot known by his name. In {heir old age the two women, who for some years had a compassionate allowance from the Admiralty, were reduced in circumstances. Generally accompanied by her sister, Mrs Irons every Saturday for 20 years pushed a^truck to Oxford and back, a journey of 10 miles each way, to fetch meat for some of her neighbours, and in this manner had walked 20,000 miles,
