SENDING MAORI DANCERS TO ENGLAND. AUCKLAND, June 21
A proposal has been made that a party of abjut 500 Maoris, of whom _ one-fourth, s'houkl be women ond girls, should be conveyed to England for the purpose of giving in London and other large cities war dances, hakas, and other athletic displays,and the poi dances of the Native race. The suggestion was made to the Hon. J. Carroll, who referied the matter to Captain Gilbert Mair. Tha latter placed the proposal before a large number of the tribes and people of Rotorua, and it was received with great enthusiasm. The suggestion is that the Maoris should be conveyed to England about April or May next, s-o that they could be there at the Coronation. Efforts are to be made at once to get the proposal financed in either Auckland or London.
