RECOGNITION OF WALES.
♦ ; LONDON, June 20. At a meeting of the Committee- of Peers and members of the House of Commons who are desirous of securing' the heraldic recognition of Wales, Sir W. V. Harcourt assured the members that Sir Francis Knollys, private secretary to the King, had convinced him that though no alteration in the Royal Arms would be permitted, yet something might possibly be done to meet the wishes of the people of Wales in connection with the arms of the Prince of Wales when that title was revised. The committee resolved to petition the King that the recognition of the Principality should be made in the arms of the Prince of Wales. The Tijnes says that the clear sympathies of the King are with the desire of the Principality of Wales, and that the advancement of the Duke of Cornwall and York to the dignity of Prince of Wales is not likely to be long delayed.
