OTAGO LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Land Board, held on Wednesday, was attended by the Chief Commissioner (Mr D. Ban on), and Messrs Clark, Dallas, Duncan, and Kirkpatiick. The Vincent County Engineer wrote asking that sections 38, 39, 48, block XI, Town of Clyde, be verted in the County Council. — To be asked to state for what purpose the land is required. The Warden reported on the application by Mrs Jane Paterson to purchase sections 31, 32, and 33, block XXXII, Town of Havelock.—Referred to ranger for report. The Warden repoited on the application by John Lenz to pxirchase section 18, block XVI, Town of Havelock.— Referred to ranger for report. John Thompson, on behalf of Hans Peter Frus, withdrew his application to purchase part of section 48, block V, Tuapeka East District. — Received. The application by L. H. Preston, on behalf of Heivy Cook, to pmchase an area of 10 acres on Gribbston Flat, run 345 a, Kawarsu, was considered, and the application approved, Ranger M'Kenzie to lepoit as to valuation. A petition flora 16 settlers in Waitaki County protesting against section 36, block XI, Moeraki d'stnet, being \esfced in the County Council as a lecieatiou leseive was referred "to Messrs Duncan, Kirkpatrick, p.nd the Chief Commissioner to inspect and report. Ranger Atkinson reported that Margaret Cree, the lessee of sections 27 to 29, 31 to 39, block V, Maruwenua district, under l.i.p. 814, is not complying with the residence condition. — To show cause within one month why lease should not be forfeited for non-residence. Assistant Ranger O'Neill reported on the application by J. D. Colder for eastern part of section 13, block XI, Woodland district.—Miscellaiious license to be issued at a zental of 20<5 per annum. Assistant Ranger O'Neill reported on the application by Thomas Alien for the western part of section 13, bock XI, Woodland district. — Miscellaneous license to be issued at a rental of 5s per annum. The boaid was requested to dete-. mine as to how the following sections m the Town of Dunkeld shall be dealt with -—Sections 2 and 3. block VIII; 4 to 6, block VIII; 1, 5, and 6, block IX, 2, 3, and 4, block IX; 7, 8, 9, block IX , 1 to 5 and 12 to 14, block XVII ; 6to 11, block XVII; 1 to 6 and 13. block XIII, 7 to 12, block XIII ; sto 7 and 16 to 18, block XVI ; Bto 15, block XVI , Ito 10, block XIV , Ito 8, block XV. — Governor to be lecommended to ic-cla-ssify the sections as subuiban land. An application by Mrs. C. Jones for an occupation lease over 100 acres in block I, St. Bathans district, was declined in the meantime, but the board expressed its willingness before finally dealing with the matter to hear Mrs Jones or her agent again. Inspector Sutton reported on the application by Thomas Tait to have the bush felled on roadJine through sections 15 to 21, block XIV. Rimu district — Received. Also, on the application by William Poff to have bush felled on loadlme fronting section 17, block X, Tautuku district. — Received. The Assistant Chief Stock Inspector applied to have about 29 acies of the Eamscleugh fieehold and Crown lands adjoining reserved for the use of the Stock department. — To be left in the hands of the commissioner to bring the ina.tter up again after consultation with applicant. Ranger Atkinson forwarded a report on the application by M. J. Gallagher, J. J. Kennedy, and Norman Lory for section 105, block IX, Maiuwenua district. — Held over. The Waihemo County Council wiote in regard to Mrs M. E. Parkhill's application for peimission to eioct a fence across the roadhne fronting section 23, Makareao estate. — The County Council to be advised that the Land Board had not given a grant to occupy the roadline, and the council should deal with the matter. Assistant Ranger O'Neill forwaicied a report on section 45, block VI, Rankleburn district, giving the capital at 12s 6d per acre, and value for improvement? £80 5s. — Report adopted. Margaret Andrew applied tor an occupation lease over two acres of unsiuveyed land m block 11, Teviot district, the warden reports. — Gi anted, subject to survey. The Inspector of Stock forwarded an application from Donald ATlnnes for a, grazing light over the Otc-kaike riverbed, fronting sections 15 to 17, block 11, and 9 to 11, block 111, Kuiow district.— Referred to the langer for report. The following applications to transfer were dealt with- — Thomas Stiven, juu., to Miss A. D. Aitken, section 89, block XI, Glenkenich district ; to furnish information le intended residence. James Hewitt to Mrs Elizabeth Hewitt, section 18, block VIII, and 14, block XIII, Tuapeka West district; held over. Geo. Fiddes to Alexander Blair, section 13, block VIII, Tokarahi settlement —Approved. The following applications to suriender were coiisideied — Thomas 3£f>rr, section 24. block VIII, Glenkenich district; accepted; to be again offered at a capital value of 22s 6d, valuation for improvements, £85. James Brown, section 55, block IV, Catlin'a district.— Referied to ranger for leporL David Messent applied to purchase land held on perpetual lease, section 18, block VIII, Na«eby distiict. — Approved, subject to approval of Minister. Re Earnscleugh Freeholds. — It was decided to forward claim to Wellington in connection with the proclamation of Fuser River aa a sludge duuisei.
