LETTER TO MR REGAX, F R G.S. Hearing that a letter from ex President Kruger had been receive.l by Mr W. F. Regan, F.R.G.S.. the well-known South African magnate, a reporter from flic Telegraph jnteiviewed him at his Lon lon offices 4-1 Threadnetdlo itro^t '' Pi evident Kiu&er," said he when questioned, "sent me one letter which I have particular occasion to remember, for by tho same mail I received two oilier letters, one irom the Right Hon. "W. E Gladstone, and the other from his Majesty the King of Portugal. All three were letters of- encouragement, for I wa= carrying ou*- large operations which necessitated my working clay and night; for nine months I worked 19 hours a day. The day I received these important letters my mind was a blank: the strain had begun to tell upon me, and I became weak and run down; locomotor ataxia set in ; I frequently fainted, and could not walk straight ; later the complaint left my limbs and attacked my brain At different times I consulted four noted medical men, two of whom said my ca-e was hopeless.
