SOUTHERN ASSOCIATION CLUB

The fourth annual meeting of the Southern Association Football Club was held on the 15th inst. m the Forbury School Gymnasium. Mr J Cameron (in the unavoidable absence of Mr T S. Culling, president) occupies the chair, and there wa« a fair attendance of members. The four teams entered for the Five a tide Tournai.ient were not so successful as formerly, none of them upholding the honour of the club to any

groat extent. The trial matches had six representatives from the club, one of whom (R. H. Nagle) was included in the_team sent to Auckland to compete for the Brown Smeld. Since last season two members of the club (Messrs J. Ashton and A. Nind) had left Dunedin, the former having left for the front. The thanks of the club were due to Messrs T. S Culling and W. Bennett for donations and to the press for reports. The balance sheet for the year showed a credit balance of 8s sd. as again=t £2 12s 5d at the beginning of the season. The Chairman, in moving their adoption, congratulated the senior and junior teams on their succor. He emphasised the need of regular and constant practice, which wa3 essential if the club wished to come out at the top of the tree Mr A«hton, in seconding the motion, mentioned that each year since the club started the senior team had moved up two place's in the Banner lipt. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr T. S. Culling; vicepresidents—Messrs W. Bennett, J. Peterson, C. Ross, J. H. Hancock, A. M'lndoe, J. Cameron, and Revs. T. G. Brooke and I. Jolly ; captain, Mr T. Ashton : deputy-cap-tain, Mr R. H. Nagle ; secretary, Mr H. Paton ; assistant-secretary and treasurer, Mr J. Holland ; selection committee — captain, deputy-captain, and Mr W. Fleming; com-mittee—office-bearers (ex officio), Mesprs J. O'Connor, W. Rowlands, and captain Second Eleven ; auditors— Messrs J. Cameron and J. Nagle, jun. ; delegates to O.F.A. — Messrs T. AsMon and W. Fleming. It was decided to ioin the Athletic Protection League. The opening of the season was fixed for Saturday, April 13.
