Assistant-ranger O'Neill's report on section 265, block I. Blackstoiie district, foimerly held by Charles Lockhart, was approved, section to be again offered at capital value of 20s per acie. Thomas Whelan wrote in regard to the " fourths ' fiom his small-grazing runs 262f and 2621, Teviot and Cannhill distucts.— The boaid decided that they had no power to interfere 111 the case. An application for rural land on lease in perpetuity by James Nevill. sections 9, 10, 20, and 21, block 111, Pool burn distuct, was granted. A memorandum from the warden in regard to the application by the Gibbston Coal Pit Company (Limited) for a tramway license on run No. 345, Kawarau district, was referred to the warden to deal with. Donald M'Gregor wrote in regard to section 20, block XIII, Pomahaka Downs estate, held b3 - him under lease in perpetuity 163s. — It was decided that the arrangement refeired to will be adhered to.^ Application for rural land 0,1 0.R.P., 3706, by James Riddle, section 12, block XIV, Rimu district, was agreed to. A merroranchini was read from the Undersecretary fo Lands intimating that the board's recommendation in regald to grouping the unsold sections m blocks 8, 9, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 2, 27, 28, and 29, Town of Clyde, and offering same as suburban land, had been approved. — The board resolved that the sections 111 Clyde township are to be offered as suburban land, and grouped as now blocked at upsets of £3 per acie. A fatal mining accident occurred in the Prince Edward mine, near DayLejjford (Vie), on March 26, whereby two miners named William Massina and Robert Height lost their In es. The men had returned to the fac9 after firing a shot on tho course of the lode at the bottom level v, Iren they were entombed by a great fall of earth. Massina's body was recovered late the sane night, and Height's the following morning. The Oamaru Mail understands that the Premier and the Hon. J. G. Ward will pay a \isit to "Waimate on Thursday, and that they will be present at a banquet to the mayor (Dr Barclay).
