J . Sullivan. £5 ss;— total, £87 Bs. Previously acknowledged, £1214 lEs , to'-al to date, £1302 3s. Mr R. T. Wheeler, jun., hon. secretary, has received the following additional subscriptions to the Queen Victoria memorial fund — A. W. Morris, £10 10s ; New Zealand and Australian Land Company, £25, previously acknowledged, £1302 3s,— total to date, £1337 13s. A meeting of the Queen's Memorial Statue Fund Committee was held in the Board Room of the Agriculturel Hall on Thursday. Sir H. J. Miller presided, and there were present — The Hone. T. Fergus and W. M. Bolt, Me^rs K. Ram e aj\ A. Shgo, G. Joachim. H. E. Mmr, D. E. Theomin, W. B. Vigers, E. R. Smith. A. Bathgate, J. C. Thornton, R. Glendining, and R. T. Wheeler, jun. (secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs G. L. Denniston, E. Melland, and G. Roberts, and Mrs Bell. The Secretary reported that the amount of subscriptions received and promised amounted to £1214- 15s, particulars of which will be found in our advertising columns this morning. Mr C R. Chapman wrote enclosing a cheque for £25. and apologised for thf nonattendance of Mrs Chapman at the ladies' meeting;. A letter from the Clutha County Council was received acknowledging receipt of the committee's letter. Mr J. J. Dickie, clerk to the Vincent County Council, wrote asking the secretary to send 20 lists to him at Clyde bo that they could be distributed by councillors, allowing everyone in the district an opportunity of assisting in the movement. On the motion of Mr Fergus, seconded by Mr Bolt, it was decided to ask Mr John Ross. Mr G. G. Russell, and Mr J. A. Ewen to co-operate with the Hon. Mr Oliver, in England, in acquiring information as to a suitable statue, and to solicit further subscriptions. f Mr Theomin FUggested the advisability of looking round for a suitable site, and the matter was referred to the executive, with power to add to their number, to make inquiries and report in a fortnight. At this stage Mrs P. Isaacs, Mrs Fergus. Mrs Ramsay. Mrs Gordon Macdonald. Miss Davies, and Mis? Kirkcakly entered the room, and. on the motion of Mr Bathgate, Mesdames Fergus/ Ramsay. and Maedonald were appointed a subcommittee with power to add to thoir number, to take any steps they considered ncoessavv to further the object of the movement. Mis Macdonald to be cony ener. The ladios held a meeting immediately after the other meeting closed, and a general discussion took place af- to v,ay* and means of canvassing for subscriptions.
