THE BANQUET.

The visiting delegates were entertained at a banquet in the Oddfellows' Hall in Stuart street at 830 in the evening. Prov. (i.M. Bro. Cable pre-icled, and 50 or 60 of the brethren sat down to the rabstantial repasL provided by Mr >S. Lean. Appetites being satisfied, the customary toast list was entered on, and the speeches were pleasantly intpr-pert'sd with song-? and recitations. The toast of '"His Maje-ty the King" v.as loyally honoured with a veito of the National Anthem P.P.G.M. Bro Sligo proposed "The Army, Navy, and Volunteers," and the toast was responded to by Bros. M'Pherson (Oamaiu) «>nd Cameron (Mop^iel). " The District TjfHcer? " was entrusted to Bro. Gow, who gave it in felicitous terms, and response was made by the Prov. G.M. Bro. Cable, D.P.G.M. Bro. Garrow, Per S. Bro. Hopcraft, and P.P.G M. Bro. Brig&s. P.P.G.M. Bro Haniel proposed " The Country Delegate V a»d Bros Jeffreys. Gow, and Hog? replied. A 6 an interval i:i the nroceedingr Prov. G M. Bro. Cable presented P.P.G.M. Bro. Briggp with the jewel of the order, and hi doing so referred to the sterling v ork done by him while occupying the office of Grand Master. Bro. Brigg3 briefly replied. During the evening songs were rendered by Bros. Clark, Flynn, Hopcraft/ Crosbie, Reid, M'Dougall, and Knipe ; while recitations were givo'n by Bros. Gallagher, Sligo, and Uainel. An enjoyable gathering terminated at about 11.30 p.m.
