TABLE TALK.

Monday Afternoon. On Wednesday afternoon a ladies' "At Home" was given by Mrs A. W. Morris, at her residence, "Marinoto." The weather was perfect, a clear, still day, with bright sunshine, a cloudless sky, and no wind. Tea and refreshments were served in the large dining-room, after which the visitors wandered about the conservatory, lawns, and grounds, which were all looking their very best, with lovely autumn tints intermixed with the green foliage. The tea table was decorated with large glasses of different-hued sweet peas, and choice flowers were everywhere to be seen.

About 150 ladies were present, amongst whom were Mrs Morris, the Misses Morris, Mrs J. R. Jones, Mrs Ogston, Mrs Sinclair Thomson, Mrs Hocken, Mrs Sinclair, Miss Browning, the Misses Moodie, Mrs and Miss Tolmie, Miss Gilkison, Mrs Shand, Mrs A.' Miss Thompson (InvercargiU) is staying with her sister. Mrs Forbes, at St. Clair. Miss Ruby Roberts is spending the race week with Mis Stead at her residence in Christchurch. Amongst others visiting Christchurch .'ivr the Misses M'Lean, Miss Stephenson, tl.c Misses Sinclair. Mr and Mrs A Logan, and the Misses Logan. Mrs Laidlaw, avlio came out from England to be present at the marriage of I, it daughter to Mr Tripp, of Timaru, a f-w months ao;o, left New Zealand last wecic by the Rimutaka. Mr C. Roberts and Mr J. Roberts were also pns«en£rers for London by the Rimutaka from Wellington. Bishon and Mrs Wilson left Auckland last week for Norfolk IsHnd.. The Hon.^lr and Mrs Hannen left for England a few days ago. Sir Westby Percival is at present visiting Dunedin. Lady and Miss Percival lemaining in Christchurch.
