DOBSON NO. 2 DREDGE. TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, — I notice that a letter in your columns re the Dobson No. 2 dredge, signed by " An Old West Coaster " reflects on my management of the dredge, and if left to go unchallenged will, if it has not already done so, do me an injury. "An Old West Coaster " states that " he saw good prospects six months ago taken fiom where the dredge was working " when he wrote the letter. I now defy him to prove his words by testing the ground around it, and get other than the results obtained by the dredge. As to his statements with leference to having things on the dredge put in a workmanlike manner, I consider he is not capable of judging. He is probably one of those nuisances — the would-be " dredging experts."" Th© dredge is kept continually working in good order, and has been open for inspection at all times to the piibhc to see it working, and it has been treating the stuff second to none on the Coast or in Otago.
I imagine from the tone of the letter that the writer has an axe to grind, and if he would attach Ilia name to his letter"! could vexs piQ-
bablf pro-, c to the invest, ng public the leasons of his attack u^o.i me I bepo he v.ill hs man oiiough to .it'ach his name to the next inc-inui-tioiis he makes — I am, etc .
