The Windsor Magazine for February is full of. good things, and maintains its reputation for interest and amusement as easily as ever. Anthony Hope, Barry Pain, and Phillips Op'penheim are all contributors to the fiction of the number, Anthony Hope, by the way, having prepared "More Dolly Dialogues" for /the delight of those readers who revelled in the subtleties of the first "Dolly Dialogues." !Mr Guy Bobthby is the subject of an illustrated interview, "Guarding the Highways of the Sea" is the title of a well-written and beautifully-illustrated article ; and "England's Free Hand on the Nile" is a paper that everywill read with been interest. "The Whir digig," by Mayne Lindsay, still retains its •place as the serial story. The February number of the Review of Reviews comes to ue, in its Royal mourning of its black and violet cover, as the memorial" Mumber of the latfe Queen. The character eketch of Queen Victoria's life is written by Rev. W. H. Fitchett, and illustratsd by reproductions of some of the most famous picJture3 of her Majesty, including the celebrated ,'Winterhalter portraits. An article, interesting to New Zealanders, on the New Zealand ifPcnny Po3t, is contributed by Mi Ward. A [roticeablo and pleasantly-illustrated article 'on "Tasmania at the Beginning of the Cen;tury." is one of the features of the number. :9h.e usual extracts from current reviews and 'gaagazines, the selection of political and soc.al 'caricatures, and some notices of the most notable books of the month, all combine to render the Review of Reviews especially acceptable to busy people and country dwellers. • The Austral Light for March is, as usual, chiefly engrossed with matters of spiritual interest, and full of devotional life in the aspects of the chur«h whose organ it is. The eermon oft "Catholic Devotion to the Sacred Heart," preached by the A.rchbishop of Melbourne at Wellington, is given in full. An nrticle on "The English Coronation Oath" may be read with interest by members of Protestant churches. There is also an article on , "The Negro in America." which revives a topic plentifully discussed some years since, 4>'H latterly ousted by newer problem?. La«t, 'but not least, the papei on "Papal Infallibility" may well interest churchmen A '11 churches. T The March number of the New Zealand •illustrated Magazine contains some pleaeant Veading and nice illustrations, among the latitar being a portrait of the newly-appointed lecturer on geology at- the Otago School of Mines. Elsdon Beat discourses on "The Spiritual Concepts of the Maori," and W. G. ]U 'Donald contributes a paper on "The Extinction of the Colonial," based upon Mr Ash; croft's late alarming discoveries concerning ithe birth rate. The serial btory by "Alien" continues, and among future arrangements we are promised some interesting illustrated ar tides on our New Zealand Universities.

walking costume 3, all with Eton or bolero effects, as regards the body ; all with more or less ornate ekirts. There is a striking dahlia pattern in applique, and abundance of fiction, Frankfort Moore and Fergus Hume being among the- responsible authors. The old objection of wretchedly-small print, however, continues to spoil the reading pages.
