BENGER BURN RACES.
The race meeting held'on the 18th hist, under the auspices of the Benger Bnru Jockey Club was fairly well attended, and the various Wents were well contest«d. Owing to some of the horses running outside the posts in the Maiden Plate, the race was run over again at the conclusion of the programme, and what might have been a very serious accident happened at the finish of the race (says the {Mount Benger Mail). Dooley, the rider of ©unluce, the winner, had the misfortune to ftiave one of his stirrup leathers break just ■after passing the post, the result being that ttie fell off. Before he could recover from the •shock and get out of the road, Gray, on Topsy came crashing into him, his norse turning a Bomersault, the rider, however, being thrown clear, little the worse for his < shaking. Dooley was considerably bruisea • and knocked about, but we are glad to say (his injuries were not serious, although now jhe escaped is somewhat marvellous^. Mr -03ain as starter and Mr A. MThcrsou a« , ljudge -gave general satisfaction; while Air as secretary,, was indispensable. The club have a surplus of £17 .over the meeting.
