DRAUGHTS ITEMS.

New Zealand Championship Tourney.— Ye learn that the Palmerston North Committee of the N.Z.D.A. have seen their way to offer £50 in prizes for the next tourney, to be held in. Palmerston North. This should ensure a satisfactory attendance Mr W. Dunn, the wellknown problem composer, will act as referee. This office he filled on a previous occasion with, satisfaction to all. Of the southern players we have it on good authority that at least three are likely to journey north this year — Messrs Mulvey, Scott, and Gardiner. This trio is professedly "rusty," but the next few weeks may make all the difference in their form. Entries for tha tourney close on March 30.
