ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
The following letter was received by his Worship the Mayor on Monday : —
" Dunedin, 3rd March, 1901. " Dear Mr Chisholm, — I write to thank you for all ypu have done for the Indian contingent during their stay in Dunedin. The men were immensely pleased by the comfortable way in which they were put up. and the care and trouble taken for their welfare. One of the native officers told me to-day that" of all the places they had been in they liked their stay at Dunedin the be«t. I only regret that we cannot be here longer. — Yours very truly,
"L. S. Pkyton. "Colonel Commanding Indian Contingent."
His Worship the Mayor received the following telegram from Hampden yesterday morning: — "We are making good progress on our journey northwards. Much enthusiasm is being shown all along the line, the weather being beautiful and warm. Kindly accept and convey to the city my hearty thanks for the great kindness shown to our guests during their stay in Dunedin. — C. H- Mills." i
