Notes from Mataura. (From Our Own Correspondent.)
GORE, January 7. Mr Thomas Graham, under whose experienced management the Central Mataura Company's prospecting dredge has recently secured such substantial returns, has resigned his position as dredgemaster. The Dome Creek dredge, nea Waikaia, was to have commenced dredging to-day.
The Central Mataura Company's prospecting dredge recommenced work on Thursday, after being closed down for the holidays. The new dredge on No. 1 claim will be working by the end of the month. Everything excepting the buckets and tables is in position. Although the prospects on No. 1 claim are slightly inferior to No 2, the prospecting dredge secured from 14oz to 20oz.
