A HINT ABOUT THE SHOW.
When a man has a reform to advocate regarding the management of any public affair he has to shove and pull and groan and sweat and put up with continuous disappointmentsbefoie he gets his reform considered. That is my position just now. For two or three years I have been trying to persuade the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society to make a new departure regarding the showing of bloocl _ stock at its annual exhibitions, and, for aught that can be seen by way of result, I may as well have saved mypelf the trouble of writing. I am not, however, to be discouraged by neglect. I shall at any rate have another try— perhaps more than one — to induce the society to adopt the plan which I believe would make the annual show of thoroughbreds attractive and really serviceable. My proposal is that a thoroughly independent and capable man should be brought to Dunedin either from the north or from Australia, engaged to
